What’s special about Invisalign treatment at DP Dental?
We plan Invisalign around keeping your natural teeth wherever the case allows, expanding the arch to create space rather than removing premolars to make it. Treatment is planned from a 3D scan using ClinCheck software, and progress can be reviewed remotely with Dental Monitoring between visits. Whether an extraction-free approach suits you depends on how much crowding there is and on your jaw and airway, which is what the first assessment looks at.
How old do you have to be to use Invisalign?
There is no fixed minimum age. Invisalign First is made for children roughly aged 6 to 10 who still have a mix of baby and adult teeth, and standard Invisalign is used from the teenage years onwards. What matters more than age is whether enough adult teeth have come through for the aligners to grip, and whether the child will wear them for the hours needed.
Is Invisalign painful?
Most people describe pressure or tenderness rather than pain, usually for the first two or three days after changing to a new aligner, and it settles as the teeth move. Some find the edges rub at first. Tell us if the discomfort is sharp, does not settle, or comes from one specific tooth, because that is worth checking rather than waiting out.
How many hours a day should you wear your Invisalign aligners?
Between 20 and 22 hours a day, which means wearing them overnight and taking them out only to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to clean your teeth. Dropping below about 20 hours is the most common reason treatment falls behind the plan, because the teeth stop tracking the way the ClinCheck predicted.
How often can you take off your Invisalign aligners?
As often as you need for meals and cleaning. What counts is the total time they spend out of your mouth, not the number of times you remove them. Three meals plus brushing usually uses most of the two hours available, so it is the long removals, grazing through an afternoon or nursing a coffee, that quietly eat the budget.
How do you keep your Invisalign aligners clean?
Rinse them in cool water each time you take them out, and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and either clear unscented soap or a cleaner made for aligners. Avoid hot water, which can distort the plastic, and avoid toothpaste, which is abrasive enough to leave fine scratches that hold stain. Brush your teeth before putting them back in.
