IS IT OKAY TO VISIT A DENTIST WHEN PREGNANT?
by DP Dental’s Dr Cameron Giang

It is a common myth that dental treatment should be avoided during pregnancy. Actually, the opposite is true, it is even more important to have dental checkups during pregnancy.
Hormonal and lifestyle changes mean pregnant women are more susceptible to oral diseases such as gingivitis. Managing dental pain and disease is essential to protect the health of the developing baby. Although treatment is generally safest in the second trimester, treatment can be performed during the other trimesters if needed. Speak to your dentist to plan and manage your dental care.
